Off his debut album of 15 tracks with a runtime of about 40 minutes, ‘By Any Minz’ continues to age like fine wine, cementing itself as a classic not just in Minz’s discography but also among exceptionally executed debut albums. For an emerging artist, Minz showcased his range, talent, and ability to navigate diverse themes with his first studio project. From dancehall to Afrobeats and Afropop, he explored multiple genres in collaboration with artists like Davido, Projexx, Blaqbonez, Bnxn, and MOLIY to deliver a compact, well-rounded album.

For his first release of 2025, Minz returns with part two of ‘f.u.’, this time featuring Oxlade and American R&B singer Jacquees. Unlike the original—a dancehall-inspired afrofusion track with Projexx and French R&B act Yo Trane—‘f.u.2’ leans into an R&B flair, aiming to push ‘f.u.’ to newer audiences.

The new release sticks to the original’s lore: a pursuit of romantic interest through cash and promises of sexual satisfaction, all over the same instrumental. What stands out on ‘f.u. 2’, however, is the interaction between both guest artists, with Oxlade’s Afro-R&B inflections complementing Jacquees’ immaculate R&B verse. It’s hard to say exactly what was going through Minz’s mind while making ‘f.u. 2’, but if the idea was to improve on the original, then Projexx and Yo Trane’s verses probably should’ve stayed.

Still, ‘f.u. 2’ is a delicious blend of R&B perspectives layered onto what was originally a dancehall record.
