These two Ghanaian heavyweights reunite and start with a bold statement that screams dominance. The track blends Sarkodie’s sharp rap bars with Shatta’s catchy, dancehall-infused hooks. Lyrics lean into bravado, success, and that “unstoppable” energy. It feels like a victory lap after years of separate paths and eventual reconciliation. The chemistry pops, and they trade energy like old friends who never lost the spark.

MOG Beatz keeps the production bouncy and radio-ready with heavy bass, rhythmic percussion, and upbeat tempos that nod to Ghanaian roots while pushing mainstream appeal.

After a long hiatus, Bloody Civilian blasts back with pure afro-futurism. “Spacefuji” takes you on a literal journey with voiceovers welcoming you to “the sounds of outer space.” She fuses house, Fuji influences, and Afro-fusion into something textured, innovative, and club-ready.

Produced by Ditwani, the song is expansive and layered, with driving rhythms, unconventional songwriting, and rhythmic energy that moves the body while sparking the mind.

BOJ brings melodic finesse, and Terry Apala adds that unmistakable Fuji flavor. It’s bold, genre-defying, and marks a strong return for one of Nigeria’s most distinctive voices.

Zaylevelten – “Go Again”

Zaylevelten comes back with his signature style and a double entendre that works perfectly.

On one level, it’s about wealth and hustle: “Yesterday we collect, but we go again / Today we go collect, and we go again / The money finna come, and finna go again.” On another, it’s playful and sensual about the girl who comes and goes again.

The chorus repeats that motivational “go again” hook that sticks in your head. Lyrics mix Pidgin, swagger, and street-smart confidence over bouncy, wavy production from RMJthewavdealer. It’s feel-good, motivational party music with depth if you listen close. 

Joey B ft. Bosom P-Yung – “Akosua Broni” (from Sexy Highlife EP)

This track (and the whole Sexy Highlife EP) nails its name.

Joey B reimagines highlife for a new generation, and “Akosua Broni” fits the sexy, vibrant vibe perfectly.

The fusion feels fresh yet rooted; highlife rhythms meet modern flair, with Bosom P-Yung’s delivery adding that charismatic edge. It’s an interesting sound that blends languages and energies in a way that just works.

The production grooves with lively percussion, melodic lines, and that feel-good highlife spirit that makes you sway.

Chances of hearing something this unique? Slim to none.

Hotkeed – “Dear God”

Hotkeed brings introspection with a twist that mirrors Dax’s classic with the same title but Hotkeed’s version stays uniquely his.

He questions God about both profound and ridiculous things, mixing serious reflection with lighter, unserious moments.

The contrast hits hard; his voice over piano and atmospheric production creates a thoughtful, almost vulnerable sound that contrasts the playful lyrics at times.

M$NEY (Album) – Asake

Asake’s fourth studio album, M$NEY, opens with a live choral performance that immediately signals this is not going to be a straightforward Afrobeats record. The 13-track project, announced with a stone-engraved rollout and artwork by Iraqi-Dutch sculptor Arthar Jabar, blends spiritual introspection with streetwise swagger and global flair.

Standouts include pre-released singles like the hypnotic “Worship” with French electronic titan DJ Snake, where log drums meet futuristic drops in a prayer-like groove; the sultry “WHY LOVE”; the hard-edged “BADMAN GANGSTA” featuring French-Congolese rapper Tiakola; and the Amapiano-infused “ASAMBE” with South Africa’s Kabza De Small. Tracks like “Gratitude,” “Amen,” “Forgiveness,” and “Rora” pulse with Yoruba-inflected devotion—Asake’s signature blend of Fuji, fuji-fusion, and Afrobeats—while “Oba” reminds us of a familiar rhythm.

There are clear nods to Afro-fusion traditions reminiscent of Lagbaja, especially in the way the music prioritizes mood and musicality over urgency. Highlife influences sit subtly within the arrangement, adding familiarity without pulling the song into nostalgia.

Lyrics repeat like a soothing mantra: “Honey, I Love You… Hold me, Love me, Dream about me.” It’s intimate and healing, with listeners calling it “Jesus serenading His bride". Odo Pa – Sarkodie ft. Kweku Flick

Ghanaian rap royalty Sarkodie joins forces with the versatile Kweku Flick on “Odo Pa” (Twi for “Good Love”). Bus Stop - TAR1Q, Young Jonn

Within 24 hours of the release of his second EP, TARIQ's "Okada Airlines" started at No. 12 on the Nigerian Apple Music Albums Chart and rose to No. 9. The young artist signed to Chocolate City Label went 8 for 8 with his latest EP, which featured Young Jonn, Khaid, Killa, and Bola BMH. TARIQ’s ability to create surreal, infectious melodies of high replay value positions him for many milestones in the Nigerian music scene and beyond. Bus Stop with Young Jonn is one of the many confirmations from the EP. Other standout tracks from the EP include Living Thing, Zuko, Jigga, and Oyi Eh.

Armed with hit songs like American Love, Ole featuring BNXN, and Vision, just to name a few, Qing Madi continues to impress and make grand musical strides for a rising star. On his new single "KUKU GOOGLE AM," 2Baba expresses a variety of controversial narratives fuelled by comparisons in the music, influencing, humorous, and entertainment industry as a whole. Like a Fela Kuti performance, each of 2Baba's lyrics is met with a callback of “KUKU GOOGLE AM”. 

Saint Tropez, Juls, Victony

Weeks after teasing “Saint Tropez” on his social media pages, the track is finally released on DSPs alongside 17 other songs off Juls fourth studio album, “Peace and Love." If you’re familiar enough with Juls work as a producer, you can tell from the shakes and Caribbean-like percussions a song he worked on. And on this sonic experience, Victony thrives, conveying a lustful yearning for a romantic subject with innuendos and harmonious hints. 

Rebel Music - Black Sherif 

Clearly, Black Sherif is in album mode for his highly anticipated sophomore album, “Iron Boy." And to further build anticipation, he has released a new single title, “Rebel Music," a typically intense music that Black Sherif says he’d be selecting as a soundtrack for judgement day if he was ever made to choose. On Rebel Music, Black Sherif bares his life’s experiences and journey in a visceral and gritty manner that pulls a listener into not just his music but the story. 

Mr. Heartbreaker - Rose May Alaba, Odumodublvck 

Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, to a Nigerian father, Rose Mary Alaba’s R&B record “Mr Heartbreaker” intersects with ODUMODUBLVCK’s gritty and intense delivery of heartbreak from their point of view. While Rose’s verse chronicles a sad heartbreak story, ODUMODUBLVCK’s is more crude and, to an extent, hilarious. 

Lonely - Joshua Baraka

Ugandan new generation artist Joshua Baraka delivers yet another sublime piece of music to listeners. This comes five months after he released the deluxe version of his 2023 studio EP, “Growing Pains." In yet another tale of heartbreak, Joshua Baraka poured his tender vocals on plucky guitars and consistent kicks.

Whether as an individual or a featured artist, one thing we haven't lacked this year is the hit songs that keep coming back to back.

From the beginning of January, we have been jamming to fire tracks from our favorites and some of these tracks have been collaborations.

It's always nice when two or more artists can come together and make magic in the studio. From Nigerian superstars teaming up with global icons to African artists using music as a means of uniting Africa, 2024 has really seen an increase in Afrobeats, Highlife, and Amapiano collaborations that push the genre’s boundaries. From rising stars like Brown Joel, Hyce, and TitoM to global superstars such as Davido, Burna Boy, Tyla, and Skepta, collaborations this year have been elite.

So let's go ahead and highlight some of the top Afrobeats collaborations of 2024 so far.

TitoM x Burna Boy x Yuppe x S.N.E – Tshwala Bam (Remix)

Beginning our list is the catchy Amapiano song, Tshwala Bam by TitoM, Burna Boy, Yuppe, and S.N.E.

The song had almost everyone doing the Tshwala Bam dance trend, watching the videos, and singing at the top of their voices, even though most of them didn't even know the lyrics, but it was so enjoyable to dance and sing along to. Despite new trends coming up, it is still obvious that the Tshawala Bam craze isn't over yet.

JAE5 x Portable x Skepta - Tony Montana

Possibly the most unexpected collaboration of the year, JAE5 teamed up with the Portable and the Grime legend, Skepta, for this hit track, he titled it Tony Montana.

Portable brought that street-to-mansion flow we all love to hear, and Skepta didn't disappoint as he dished out fire bars. Music lovers didn't hesitate to jump on it on different social media platforms and create a trend out of it.

Asake x Central Cee - Wave

Released as the lead single for his "Lungu Boy" album, Asake teamed up with U.K Drill rapper Central cee as they delivered one heck of the track they titled "Wave." Asake's soulful vocals blended so well with Central Cee's energetic rap. The song features catchy hooks, infectious beats, and a laid-back & chill vibe which show how much chemistry, style, and versatility both artist have as a duo. It's a superb collaboration in the Afrobeats scene.

Tyla x Gunna x Skillibeng - Jump

The ninth track on Tyla's self titled debut album, Jump blends Afrobeats, hip-hop, and dancehall for an energetic vibe. Tyla’s infectious vocals, Gunna’s smooth flow, and Skillibeng’s Jamaican flair create a unique combination which makes the song more appealing to a wider audience. The song is a high-energy track that Tyla uses to celebrate her culture, her city Johannesburg, her rise to fame, confidence, and living life to the fullest.

Boypee x Hyce x Brown Joel - Ogechi

As long as you are on different social media platforms, you definitely came across the Ogechi song by rising stars Boypee, Hyce, and Brown Joel. A love song filled with so much Highlife vibes from the Eastern part of Nigeria, Ogechi is a soulful track that celebrates love and divine blessings. With smooth melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and vibrant rhythms, it was so heartwarming listening as all three artist perfectly blended their voices seamlessly, and delivered a captivating rhythm that listeners can relate to.

Diamond Platnumz x Jason Derulo x Khalili Harrison x Chley Nkosi - Komasava Remix

If the original track was a big hit, then the remix to Diamond Platnumz's Komasava was an even bigger hit and internet sensation. When you mix Diamond Platnumz's energy, bongo flava vibes, and dance moves with Jason Derulo's energy, flair, soothing vocals, the end product is going to be nothng short of magic, and that is what the track Komasava became as it amassed 1 million views on Youtube in just 14 hours. Music lovers are still eating up this track as much as they can.

King Promise x Shallipopi - Continental

It is no news that whenever Ghana and Nigeria combine for whatever production in the entertainment world as a whole, it is always going to be a hit, and this time, that was exactly the case with Ghana's melodious King Promise teaming Nigeria's sensation Shallipopi on this track Continental.

The second track from his debut album titled True to Self, King Promise delivers a melodious tune and Shallipopi doesn't disappoint as he gives off so much energy and rhythm in his verse as well, making the track one that would have music listener putting it on repeat.

Ruger x BNXN - POE

It was a surprise when fans learnt Ruger and Bnxn were collaborating on a song after their internet beef in 2022, and it was an even bigger surprise to know they had a whole EP titled RnB ready to our ears with.

One of the biggest tracks on the EP is POE. A smooth Afro-fusion track that blends pleasant melodies with vibrant beats. The song's themes are on love, success, and confidence, as both artists bring their different styles. Ruger’s dynamic vocals and Bnxn’s soulful delivery create an infectious tune to keep listeners singing along and moving.

Kizz Daniel x Davido - Twe Twe Remix

Flyboi and popular hitmaker Kizz Daniel is known for delivering tunes that keep playing in your head for years and have you dancing wherever you hear it, and this time, he enlisted global superstar Davido on the remix of his hit song Twe Twe.

As expected, Davido delivered a fire verse that had everyone singing along when it came up. Kizz Daniel and Davido have collaborated a few other times, and this is one of those songs that don't fall short when they collaborate. Kizz Daniel and Davido have established that they are an elite duo when they work together.

Darkoo x Rema - Favorite Girl Remix

Social media platforms were already going crazy with the release of Darkoo's Favorite Girl. It had its trend on social media and had parties lit, but that was the beginning. With Rema jumping on the remix, it gave the track more fire, trends, and plays too. As of this moment, it is still topping charts and getting more parties turnt up.

"Wadibusa" —Uncle Waffles, Royal MusiQ, OHP Sage, Pcee

It appeared the Ravage EP era was some sort of prequel to a more creatively sinister phase and Rema’s sophomore album, ‘HEIS’. Built on elements of punk rock and afrobeats, the homecoming album heralded a shift from a popular but now drab sound with its first lead single, ‘Benin Boys’. The track was appropriate as a lead single and in choice of collaboration with Shallipopi, who is from the same hometown as Rema. Benin Boys is Rema’s idea of upraising Benin City and putting it on the map. He undeniably accomplishes that with Benin Boys and ultimately the ‘HEIS’ album, and his homecoming event in Benin City last month is a testament.

When Ayra Starr teamed up with Giveon, it was the merging of two soulful worlds. "Last Heartbreak Song" is both a melancholy anthem and a streaming heavyweight. Odumodublvck’s raw delivery, coupled with Shallipopi’s unique cadence and Smur Lee’s edge, birthed one of the most viral and best collaborations in 2024, as it debuted No. 1 on the Apple Music Nigeria Chart. The underground vibes on this one have translated into mainstream success, while its streaming performance continues to impress.
