Champz’s Team Declines Live Show Invitations to Prioritise His Growth

Rising Nigerian music sensation Champz, the 14-year-old son of Afrobeats star Wizkid (real name Boluwatife Balogun), has been turning heads in the music industry following the success of his debut EP, ‘Champion’s Arrival‘. The project recently topped Apple Music Nigeria’s charts and achieved significant streaming milestones, marking an extraordinary start to his career.

Despite a wave of live show invitations and performance requests across social media platforms and entertainment events, Champz’s management — led by his mother, Shola Ogudu — has publicly declined these offers.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Ogudu thanked fans and industry stakeholders for their interest but explained that the team is choosing to focus on Champz’s artistic and personal development first, given his young age.

We want to say a Big Thank you for the countless show invitations and for considering Champz. Due to his age, we’re prioritising development over live performances for now and have had to decline show bookings. We truly appreciate the interest and understanding,” she wrote.

The decision reflects a long-term strategy to ensure the young artist grows into his craft at a sustainable pace — balancing school, studio time, and personal growth — rather than immediately stepping into the demanding world of concerts and tours.

Champz’s breakout project, which blends Afrobeats with youthful introspection, has not only topped national charts but also built substantial momentum online, with millions of streams and a rapidly growing fanbase across platforms.
