Shoday and Waje Join Funke Akindele’s The Four

The Four Shoday and Waje Funke Akindele

Shoday and Waje are adding acting credits to their already impressive music careers, joining the star-studded cast of Funke Akindele’s upcoming feature film, The Four: No One Fights Alone.

The film, written, directed and produced by Nigeria’s highest-grossing filmmaker, Funke Akindele, is scheduled for a global cinema release on December 11, 2026.

For Shoday, the move marks an interesting step outside music. The singer, who has built a growing audience with his Afrobeats records, will now be trading the microphone for the screen alongside some of Nollywood’s biggest names.

Waje, meanwhile, is no stranger to commanding an audience. The award-winning singer brings her own wealth of performance experience to a film that brings together an unusually packed cast of actors, musicians and entertainment personalities.

Shoday Is Taking His Talents From Music to the Big Screen

Shoday has spent the past few years establishing himself as one of the newer voices to watch in Afrobeats. Now, The Four gives audiences an opportunity to see another side of the artist.

His inclusion is particularly interesting because his career has so far been rooted firmly in music. The film represents a chance to discover whether the charisma that works on stage and in music videos can translate into a completely different form of performance.

He joins a cast that includes Funke Akindele, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan and Wunmi Toriola.

That is a serious acting lineup to make a first impression around.

Waje Is Bringing Her Own Star Power to The Four

Waje’s appearance adds another musical heavyweight to the project.

Known for her powerful vocals and emotionally charged performances, the singer has built a career that extends beyond simply making records. Her transition into a feature film places her alongside an ensemble of established Nollywood performers while giving audiences another opportunity to see her in a different creative setting.

She and Shoday are also part of a growing list of Nigerian musicians crossing more deliberately into film and television, following a long tradition of artists moving between the country’s entertainment industries.

What Is The Four About?

The Four: No One Fights Alone is described as an emotionally charged drama centred on friendship, motherhood, resilience and the strength of ordinary women.

Set between Odu Community and the city, the story follows Esosa and three fiercely loyal women whose determination to fight for the future of a young man they love puts their courage, faith and loyalty to the test.

The film also promises a strong cultural identity, incorporating Nigerian music, fashion, language and tradition into its storytelling.

Beyond Shoday and Waje, the project features entertainment personalities Samuel Banks, Kolapo Omotosho and Ayomide Iwasokun, further blurring the lines between Nigeria’s music, film and wider entertainment industries.

From Afrobeats to Nollywood

There is something increasingly interesting about seeing Nigerian musicians step into acting.

For artists like Shoday, the move offers a chance to expand an audience that already knows them through music. For established performers like Waje, it opens another avenue for an artist who has spent years communicating emotion through sound to explore storytelling through character.

And with Funke Akindele behind the project, The Four is arriving with considerable expectations.

Whether Shoday proves to have another career waiting for him on screen or Waje adds another memorable performance to her already lengthy creative résumé, audiences will have to wait until December to find out.

For now, all we know is that Shoday is going from Afrobeats to Nollywood, and Waje is coming with him.
