Davido Announces ‘Davido & Friends’, His First UK Festival at Crystal Palace Bowl

In a move that cements his status as one of Afrobeats’ most visionary global ambassadors, Nigerian superstar Davido has announced his debut UK festival. Titled “Davido & Friends”, the full-day event will take over the historic Crystal Palace Bowl in South London on Friday, August 14, 2026. The Grammy-nominated artist will not only headline but also personally curate the lineup, promising a star-packed celebration of music, culture, and community.

Davido broke the news today via social media with infectious energy: “For the first time ever, I present to you… Davido & Friends Festival. It’s going down at Crystal Palace Bowl on the 14th of August. This will be my only outdoor show I’m performing at this summer in London. So make sure you get your friends down, as I’ll be doing the same.”

He added a deeper personal touch in follow-up comments: “London, you have always shown me love, and now it’s time for me to give it back! Crystal Palace Bowl, Davido & Friends is going to be something special. 15 years in the making, and we’re celebrating in the city that has always had my back.”

The choice of venue matters. Crystal Palace Bowl, a historic open-air amphitheatre with a capacity of around 15,000, has hosted iconic performances since the 1960s. Recently revitalised, it now sits at the centre of the “Palace Bowl Presents” series—a summer run of shows positioning the venue as a renewed cultural hot spot.

Fresh off the success of his chart-topping album ‘5ive’ which debuted in the UK Top 10 and the sold-out 5ive Alive World Tour across Africa, Europe, and beyond, Davido is now stepping into the curator’s chair. The timing couldn’t be more perfect: with Coachella 2026 also locked in, 2026 is shaping up as his most ambitious year yet.

The venue choice elevates the moment even further. Nestled in Crystal Palace Park, the Crystal Palace Bowl is a legendary open-air amphitheatre with a rich live-music heritage dating back to the 1960s and 1970s. It hosted Pink Floyd’s iconic (and rain-soaked) 1971 Garden Party, Bob Marley & The Wailers’ largest-ever London concert in 1980 — where he debuted “Redemption Song” live — and performances from icons like Elton John, The Faces, and more. Recently upgraded, its natural acoustics and scenic 15,000-capacity setting make it the perfect canvas for Davido’s high-energy, communal Afrobeats party.

“Davido & Friends” sits at the heart of the brand-new Palace Bowl Presents series, running July 31 to August 16, 2026. The eclectic summer lineup already includes global heavyweights such as Grace Jones, Sir Tom Jones, Gary Numan, and a Bastille & The Wombats co-headline night — positioning Crystal Palace Bowl as London’s premier new festival destination.

What makes this announcement truly editorial gold is its broader cultural weight. Afrobeats has long outgrown club circuits and arena one-offs; Davido’s festival curation in the UK heartland signals the genre’s arrival as a major festival player. Expect “friends” spanning the African, US, and UK scenes – collaborations that could spark the next wave of cross-continental hits. As the artist teased, the guest list is stacked: “big friends… a lot of people coming from Africa, hopefully from America & here too.”

Pre-sale access opens Thursday, March 26 at 10am GMT for early sign-ups via Laylo, with general sale following on Friday, March 27 at 10am GMT through palacebowlpresents.co.uk. Mastercard holders get priority access from the same time, and local residents in SE19, SE20, and SE26 qualify for discounted tickets. With a 15,000-capacity cap, expect this one to sell fast.

In an era where live music is about shared cultural moments, “Davido & Friends” feels like a movement claiming its throne. It’s Davido evolving from chart dominator to festival architect – and for Afrobeats lovers worldwide, it’s the summer event you cannot miss.
