Lasmid Surpasses 200 Million Streams on Audiomack, Receives Plaque in Accra

Ghanaian Afrobeats star Lasmid has officially crossed the 200 million all-time streams milestone on Audiomack, cementing his status as one of the platform’s most streamed African artists and a leading force in Ghana’s new-generation music movement.

Audiomack flew a team to Accra to personally present the 26-year-old hitmaker with a commemorative plaque during a surprise celebration at the Africa House event on April 25, turning the milestone into a full community moment for Ghanaian music lovers.

More than a ceremonial moment, the recognition speaks to the scale of Lasmid’s connection with listeners across West Africa. His rise has been powered by a catalogue that moves fluidly between romantic melodies, street-rooted records, and crossover collaborations, an approach that has steadily built him a loyal, streaming-first audience.

Lasmid first burst onto the scene after winning MTN Hitmaker Season 8 in 2019. He signed to Kaywa’s Highly Spiritual Music label and gained massive traction with his 2022 single “Friday Night”, which exploded on TikTok, dominated Ghanaian charts, and introduced his infectious blend of Afrobeats, Highlife, and rap to a wider audience.

The 200 million-stream milestone on Audiomack reflects years of consistent output, strong local loyalty, and growing international appeal. The platform has become a key launchpad for African talent, and Lasmid joins an elite group of Ghanaian and continental acts achieving such numbers.

“This milestone is a testament to Lasmid’s hard work and the love from his fans. We’re proud to celebrate him and continue building with artists across the continent,” an Audiomack representative said during the presentation.

Lasmid has kept the energy high in 2026. He recently dropped a vibrant collaboration with fellow Ghanaian star KiDi titled “Signature”, generating early buzz ahead of KiDi’s upcoming album. Other releases like “Pull” and collaborations such as “Butter My Bread” have kept him in rotation across playlists and radio.

His management has also been vocal about recognition at major awards, including petitions regarding categories at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, signaling growing confidence in his position within the industry.

Reaching 200 million streams on a single platform underscores the increasing power of streaming for African artists outside traditional major-label systems. Audiomack’s focus on the continent, combined with viral social media moments, has helped artists like Lasmid build sustainable careers rooted in homegrown audiences while expanding globally. For Lasmid, the plaque validates the journey from Takoradi to becoming one of Ghana’s most reliable hitmakers and a symbol of the country’s thriving Afrobeats and Highlife scene.
