Tyla Offers Scholarships to 10 Young Women Studying Music
South African superstar Tyla is extending her influence beyond the stage with the launch of the That Girl Music Scholarship, an initiative designed to support 10 young women pursuing music and arts-related degrees. Announced in partnership with Epic Records and the International Institute of Education (IIE), the programme will award each recipient $5,000 to help fund their education.
Named after “THAT GIRL”, a track from her second studio album, A*POP, the scholarship will support eligible students studying at accredited colleges and universities near selected stops on her ongoing A*POP World Tour. Six (6) scholarships will go to students in the United States, covering New York, Washington, D.C., Tampa, Atlanta, Houston and Los Angeles, while the remaining four (4) are reserved for students in her home country, South Africa. Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) will receive priority consideration among eligible US institutions.
Beyond the financial support, recipients will also receive tickets to a Tyla concert and an exclusive meet-and-greet with the singer, giving them an opportunity to connect with an artist whose career has grown from South African roots into global pop stardom. The programme is intended for students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and meet the scholarship’s enrolment and course requirements.

The scholarship arrives as Tyla continues to expand the reach of her A*POP era through an international tour. By tying the initiative to her music and touring schedule, the singer is using the momentum of her career to create tangible opportunities for aspiring female musicians, particularly those who need financial assistance to pursue their ambitions.
Applications are now open through the International Institute of Education’s official scholarship page, with a deadline of October 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, or earlier if 50 eligible applications are received.
