Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Asake kicked off 2026 in spectacular fashion, selling out his first-ever headline concert in South Africa at the 10,000-capacity Goldrush Dome in Johannesburg on January 3.

Presented by AfroFuture’s newly launched live-experience platform Curated By Culture (CBC), the event marked a milestone for the artist, drawing a massive, energetic crowd that sang along to every lyric and demanded an encore, cementing his growing influence across the continent.

From the moment Asake stepped on stage, the energy was electric. Fans sang along to every Yoruba lyric and danced nonstop as he delivered a dynamic set that moved seamlessly between his biggest hits and surprise moments. The night featured a curated blend of Afrobeats and Amapiano rhythms, celebrating the musical threads that tie West and Southern Africa together.

Fans were treated to electrifying renditions of hits like “Lonely at the Top”, “MMS”, and “2 Factor”—the latter featuring surprise appearances by Young Jonn and South African star Focalistic, blending Nigerian and local flavours for an unforgettable moment.

High-production elements included striking visuals and engaging choreography, reflecting AfroFuture’s approach to live experiences rooted in African creativity.

Local stars and surprise appearances elevated the night, reinforcing a shared musical bond between Nigerian and South African audiences.

One of the most talked-about moments came when Asake performed an unreleased collaboration with French DJ/producer DJ Snake—reportedly titled “Worship”—in full length for the first time. The track, backed by orchestral elements, generated massive excitement, with video clips circulating online showing the crowd erupting as familiar Afrobeats grooves met fresh production vibes, teasing what could be a major potential single from Asake’s forthcoming project.

The performance of the DJ Snake cut wasn’t in the official setlist but became one of the night’s defining highlights, leaving fans clamouring for a formal release. Some commentators are already forecasting “Worship” as a future anthem that could cross over into international charts once officially out.

Overall, the concert is deemed successful for its production, crowd engagement, and cultural significance, proving Asake’s dominance in bridging African music scenes with a performance that set an early tempo for 2026.
